One more sleep & the trip begins. it was wet today with possible rain later in the ride so I decided to put the mudguards to try & keep clean. If nothing else it may keep the rain gods at bay.

We are camped just outside Lands End tonight & explored this afternoon before seeing of the day with a fantastic sunset.

We made our way from flat Cambridgeshire to the lumpy Cotswolds to stay with Mundi’s sister in Cheltenham.

I had a final ride to test the set up & roll the legs over, though with the 14% hills I encountered the only rolling was when I got to go down the other side. The next couple of days we’ll be traveling & sorting out the camper so will use these as rest days before starting the ride proper.

The Cotswolds has some great scenery & pretty villages so I did stop now & again to take some photos.

Landed safely & the bags & bike were waiting for us.

Fingers crossed it will be in one piece when we open it.

Went for a short easy ride to shake off some of the jet lag and to try & stay awake after 20 hours of traveling.

When researching possible routes for the ride I came across a website and information produced by Royston Wood listing an alternative way to do the LeJog ride. Rather than riding the major roads it suggested a more scenic and arguably safer route utilising less congested roads, bike and canal paths. He also provides GPX files of the suggested route which made it that much easier for me to plan the trip and will help enormously with the navigation.

As a lot of the route is to be on unmade paths as well as on tarmac I decided on a “fast” gravel bike & opted for the Canyon Grail. It’s light, well geared & has funky looks with its hover handlebars.
